What is a Community Resource Navigator?

The goal of the Community Resource Navigator is to help you and your family access social services and other community resources that are available to you. Identifying benefits and services you might qualify for can be difficult. Understanding where to go, complex applications and timelines to apply for assistance can be confusing and overwhelming. A Navigator is there for you to provide information and support in order to improve your access to these programs and services. A Navigator serves as a one-stop information and referral resource to the many programs available in our community.

What does a Community Resource Navigator do?

  • Improves access to programs and services
  • Identifies community resources to remove barriers to successful employment
  • Determines what social services/ community resources you may qualify for
  • Answers questions about services and benefits
  • Helps coordinate multiple services
  • Assists you in developing an action plan, clearly detailing steps and timelines to follow
  • Assists with applications
  • Attends appointments with you to help enable better communication
  • Provides referrals to community agencies
  • Educates people about Health & Wellness Issues
  • Acts as an advocate for you

When should I schedule an appointment with the Navigator?

If you have questions about or need help with any of the following areas:

  • Access to Healthcare
  • Local services to support employment and skills training
  • Housing Assistance
  • Food Assistance
  • Transportation
  • Government Benefits (TANF, SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare)
  • Child Care/ Parenting Resources
  • Emergency Assistance
  • Victims Assistance Resources
  • Health & Wellness (managing illness, basic financial education, nutrition guides)
